Job Overview

Woolworths is seeking a Central Trade & Market Insight Analyst to generate actionable commercial and market insights that will optimise trade performance within the Foods division. This role focuses on analysing market share, competitor activity, promotional trends, and trade data to support strategic and operational decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse micro and macro-economic trends impacting local and global retail markets.

  • Deliver accurate Monday Foods and monthly promotional reports to management and finance teams.

  • Conduct market share and commercial analysis to uncover opportunities and risks across categories.

  • Maintain supplier coding and ensure data integrity in buyer and category reports.

  • Support the migration of Foods business analytics to the Discover platform.

  • Track competitor trade activities and help shape tactical and operational responses.

  • Develop and maintain trade models to identify regional and category growth areas.

  • Collaborate with marketing, trade planning, and customer teams to align insights with strategy.

  • Apply PIR methodologies and other commercial frameworks to enhance reporting and analysis.

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment and business impact.


Minimum Requirements

  • A commercial degree or diploma (e.g., BSc, BBusSci, BComm, BEcon) or equivalent.

  • Background in Retail Analytics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or Mathematics.

  • 5+ years’ experience in FMCG or Retail, including 3 years in analytics.

  • Proven ability to analyse commercial levers (sales growth, market share, COGS, margin, ROS).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros, VBA) and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Qlik is advantageous.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to perform under tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to translate analytics into actionable insights.

  • Leadership capability with experience managing projects or cross-functional teams.

  • A passionate foodie with alignment to Woolworths’ core values.
