Job Overview

Woolworths is seeking a Cyber Security Specialist (Red Team) — an energetic, technically skilled professional who will help strengthen the company’s defense against cyber threats. This role focuses on red teaming, purple teaming, penetration testing, and DevSecOps, contributing directly to Woolworths’ security strategy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct penetration testing and validate security controls across the Woolworths environment.

  • Support the cyber operations team in identifying vulnerabilities and responding to incidents.

  • Collaborate with external security partners when needed.

  • Enhance red and purple team capabilities through technology, automation, and continuous control validation.

  • Integrate security best practices into SDLC and DevSecOps processes under “shift left” and “security by default” principles.

  • Provide expert guidance on secure coding, vulnerability management, and source code analysis.

  • Manage risk-based methodologies for application and infrastructure penetration testing.

  • Assist with AppSec training and documentation.

  • Provide actionable security insights and reports for operational dashboards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 and a relevant degree, diploma, or certifications.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in cyber security and up to 10 years in IT.

  • Skills:

    • Hands-on experience in application security and penetration testing.

    • Familiarity with DevOps/DevSecOps and CI/CD security integration.

Advantageous

  • Software development background.

  • Certifications such as OSCP, OSWE, SANS, or CREST.

  • Practical experience with the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

  • Ability to script and automate security processes.

  • Flexibility to assist outside standard working hours.
